Healing through Giving: Donate Life’s Impactful Presence at Health & Wellness Expo by SGCCI
In the 'Health and Wellness Expo 2024' organized by the Chamber of Commerce; more than 150 people, including Chamber President Ramesh Vaghasia, Vice President Vijay Mewawala, Former Presidents Himanshu Bodawala, Amarnath Dora and Rupin Pacchigar, filled the pledge letter of organ donation through Donate Life.
Mayor Shri Dakseshbhai Mavani and Municipal Commissioner Shaliniben Agarwal also visited the stall of Donate Life NGO in the 'Health, Wellness, Food and Agritech Expo- 2024' organized by the Chamber of Commerce and learned about the great work of organ donation being done by Donate Life.
The Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Southern Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industries Development Center organized 'Health and Wellness Expo- 2024' and 'Food and Agritech- 2024' exhibition at Surat International Exhibition and Convention Center located in Sarsana from date 10/01/2024 to 01/01/2024. Donate Life organization, which has been working to raise awareness of organ donation in the society for the past 19 years and to give life to patients with organ failure by donating the organs of a brain-dead person, also participated.
Thousands of citizens came to witness this exhibition, who also visited the stall of Donate Life organization and got the information on “What is Braindead? Which organs can be donated? Who can donate organs? Why is organ donation necessary?”
Nileshbhai Mandlewala, the founder of Donate Life, explained the importance of organ donation and its entire process to the citizens who visited the stall as well as students doing Diploma pharmacy at Bhagwan Mahavir College Of Pharmacy, saying that every year millions of people in the country die due to lack of timely organ donation. He told them that the organs of your relatives are not needed in heaven but on earth. During the three days, more than 100,000 citizens filled the pledge letter of organ donation, in which Chamber of Commerce President Rameshbhai Vaghasia, Vice President Mr. Vijaybhai Mewawala, then former President Himanshubhai Bodawala, All Exhibitions Chairman Bijalbhai Jariwala and former presidents Amarnathbhai Dora and Rupinbhai Pacchigar also filled the pledge letter. All the citizens who took the pledge of organ donation were given a certificate of pledge of organ donation from the Ministry of Health, Government of India.
Nileshbhai Mandlewala further said that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi has presented the concept of making India a developed nation by the year 2047 and when our country will celebrate the centenary year of independence in the year 2047, no person will die in our country due to lack of organs is Donate Life's mission.

It is worth mentioning that Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi also spoke about the importance of organ donation in the 'Mann Ki Baat' program and appealed to people to donate the organs of their brain dead relatives. The Prime Minister said, “When one person donates organs after death, eight to nine people have a chance of getting a new life. I appeal to my countrymen that organ donors should come forward more and more. One decision of yours can save many lives....shape many lives....”
It is to be noted that 100,000 organs and tissues have been donated by the Donate Life organization from all over South Gujarat including Surat, due to which a total of 1106 people from the country and abroad have gotten a new life.
The city of Surat has created several milestones in the field of organ donation, due to which Surat and Gujarat have gained respect in our country.
