Details of the incident:

On Friday 13th April 2018, Pravinbhai was traveling to Kosamba on his bike at around 5:30, he met with an accident in front of Sarovar Hotel, Moti Naroli when he got a hit from an unknown vehicle and suddenly got unconscious.

He was immediately admitted to Dinbandhu Hospital, Kamrej in 108 Ambulance. After preliminary treatment, he was shifted to Unique Hospital in Surat for the further treatment at 6:00 PM.

After CT scan, doctors found a Brain Hemorrhage because of a blood clot and also swelling in the brain.

On 14th April, Pravinbhai again shifted to Shalby Hospital from Unique Hospital for further treatment under Neuro Surgeon Dr. Jigar Shah.

On 16th April, Pravinbhai was declared brain dead by Neuro Surgeon Dr. Jigar Shah, Neuro Physician Dr. Roshan Patel and Intensivist Dr. Milan Modi.

Intensivist Dr. Milan Modi informed Donate Life President Nilesh Mandlewala and gave the information about his brain dead. The team of Donate Life reached the hospital and explained the importance and procedure of Organ Donation to his wife Varshaben, Brother Hasmukhbhai, Brother-in-law Pareshbhai, Cousin Brother Prafulbhai, Dhanjibhai Reyani and other family members.

Family members of Pravinbhai said, “If our loved one is brain dead and going to die soon, it is better to donate his precious organs and save the lives of needy people rather than burning his organ to ashes. In addition, they said that they were often reading news about donation in newspapers, so they thought that this is a godly work. Also added, it is a matter of fate, death is a matter of time, but living in someone’s heart after death is a matter of good deeds in life.”

On getting the consent from Pravinbhai’s family members, Donate Life Founder President Nilesh Mandlewala contacted Dr. Pranjal Modi at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad and informed him to accept the donation of kidney and liver. The donation of kidney and liver were accepted by Dr. Jamal Rizvi and his team from Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad. Whereas, the donation of eyes was accepted by Lokdrashti Chakshu Bank’s Dr. Praful Shiroya.

Out of two donated kidneys, one was transplanted into Dakshaben Harshadbhai Vaghela (Age 36) living in Godhra and another was transplanted into Laljibhai Sendhabhai Thakor (Age 38) living in Kheda. Whereas, the liver was transplanted into Arvind Hirabhai Parmar (Age 50) living in Rajkot. The process of organ transplantation was done by Dr. Pranjal Modi, Dr. Jamal Rizvi and their team from Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC).

This whole process of organ donation witnessed an invaluable co-operation of Pravinbhai’s wife Varshaben, Son Abhi, Brother Hasmukh, Brother-in-law Paresh, Cousin Brother Praful, Dhanjibhai Reyani and other family members, Neuro Surgeon Dr. Jigar Shah, Neuro Physician Dr. Roshan Patel, Intensivist Dr. Milan Modi, Administrators & Staff members of Shalby Multispecialty Hospital, President of Donate Life Nilesh Mandlewala, Secretary Rakesh Jain, Subhash Jodhani and Jitendra More.

So far, the team of Donate Life has given new life to 577 people by playing an instrumental role in donating 247 kidneys, 100 livers, 6 pancreas, 17 hearts and 210 eyes by providing counseling to the family members of brain dead persons.
