The team of Donate Life reached the hospital and explained the importance and procedure of Organ Donation to his sons Ramesh and Rasik, brothers Ghanshyambhai and Arvindbhai, Nephews Rajnai and Milan, and other family members.
Family members of Kalubhai said, “Kalubhai was the very caring soul and used to help others who were really needy people. We had also seen news of Organ Donation in Newspapers frequently. They added that organ donation is a good deed. Today when our elder has got brain dead and is going to die soon, it is better to donate his precious organs and save the lives of needy people rather than burning his organ to ashes.”
On getting the consent of Kalubhai’s family members, Donate Life Founder President Nilesh Mandlewala contacted Dr Pranjal Modi at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad and informed him to accept the donation of kidney and liver. The donation of kidney and liver were accepted by Dr Jamal Rizvi and his team from Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad, whereas donation of eyes was accepted by Lokdrashti Chakshu Bank’s Dr Praful Shiroya.
Both the donated kidneys were transplanted into Manisha Rameshchandra Modi (Age 37) living in Siddhpur. Whereas, the liver was transplanted into Dhruti Hardik Kanojiya (Age 27) living in Ahmedabad. The process of organ transplantation was done by Dr Pranjal Modi, Dr Jamal Rizvi and their team from Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC).
