SURAT CITY HAS ACHIEVED SIGNIFICANT MILESTONES
IN THE FIELD OF ORGAN DONATION THROUGH DONATE LIFE

Donate Life has been instrumental in achieving several notable firsts inGujarat, India and Globally under Nilesh Mandlewala's leadership, theseachievements showcase the progress and advancements made in organdonation and transplantation in the State of Gujarat.

On January 12, 2006, Mandlewala received a call from Surat's Ashaktaashram Hospital for a patient named Jagdishbhai Shah who was declared brain-dead by renowned neuro surgeon of Surat Dr. Ashok Patel. He was rushed to the hospital without wasting even a single moment. It takes a lot of courage to approach the people who have just lost their loved one and convince them to donate their family member's organs while they are still recuperating from the loss. But Mandlewala counselled the family members to donate Mr. Shah's organ.

After Jagdishbhai's family gave their consent, Nephrologist Dr. Vatsa Patel contacted at Ahmedabad's Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Centre (IKDRC). IKDRC Director Dr. H. L. Trivedi sent Dr. Pranjal Modi and his team to Surat to, procure Jagdishbhai's kidneys. His kidney gave a new lease of life to two people one was from Rajkot and another from Ahmedabad. -

This was first ever intercity cadaver donation and transplant in Gujarat has led to a great deal of excitement in the medical fraternity. This was Mandlewala's first success story of Organ Donation. Then came many others.

Raju Chimanlal Gohil age-23 who was working in a diamond unit was dashed by a speeding truck on February 3, 2006. Raju received head injuries and admitted in Surat Municipal Corporation run SMIMER Hospital.

On February 8, 2006, Mr. Mandlewala received a call from Surat's SMIMER hospital where Raju was declared brain-dead by the team of doctor. Mandlewala convinced Raju's father, Chimanbhai Gohil to donate his kidney and his father agreed. That is when Gastroenterologist, Dr. Rajiv Mehta called, Mr. Mandlewala and said that if he could convince Raju's father to donate his liver as well then one liver failure patient in Hyderabad will get a new lease of life. When, Mr. Mandlewala spoke to Raju's father, he told, if someone else gets a new lease of life because of my son's organs they can take any organ which may be useful.

The family agreed to donate the liver along with kidney. At that time in our country there were only four centers, which were capable of doing liver transplant. Three were located in the southern part of the country and the one was at Delhi. There was no liver transplant program in Gujarat, Hyderabad based Global hospital's Dr. Subbarao and his team came to Surat to procure the liver. Dr. Pranjal Modi and his team from IKDRC Ahmedabad came to Surat to procure the kidneys.

Raju's father Chimanlal Gohil Said, "It was not an easy decision for us to take. Somehow we were mentally attached to our son. At least we could say that he is 'alive'.

Raju's case was landmark in the medical history of the Gujarat state, as this was Gujarat's first ever liver donation which was done from the Surat city and the first ever interstate liver donation of Gujarat from Surat.

On 27th May 2006, 4.5 yrs old Krushang Jaswant Patel, was playing where unfortunately he reached on the road and met with a fatal accident. He was rushedimmediately to the nearby hospital by his parents, from where he was transferred to Mahavir Hospital, after some days he was declared brain dead by the team of doctors.

The doctors then contacted Nilesh Mandlewala who responded immediately and convinced his family members for Organ Donation. Thereafter being from the Swaminarayan Faith they took the blessings of Pramukh Swami ji and donated both his kidneys and eyes, giving new lease of life and vision to 3 people. This was the first Pediatric Donor of Gujarat from Surat.

On December 16, 2015 Jagdishbhai came to Surat for social work with his wife Rekhaben. While returning to his home from Surat to his village Vansava after completing that work, Jagdishbhai and his wife Rekhaben fell from the bike when a Mahendra Bolero jeep collided with them. Jagdishbhai suffered serious head injuries and became unconscious. And his wife Rekhaben got serious injuries on her legs, They admitted to Mahavir Trauma Hospital in 108 ambulance. Doctors advised for CT scan report of Jagdishbhai. CT scan revealed a bone fracture in brain.

On December 18, 2015, team of Doctors declared him brain death. Bhadresh Shah, chairman of the executive committee of the chamber, contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, Founder of Donate Life and gave information about Jagdishbhai's brain dead.

Nilesh Mandlewala reached Hospital and counseled the family members of Jagdishbhai's to donate the vital organs of him. The family agreed to donate the Heart along with kidney and Liver. But there was no Heart transplant program in Gujarat so heart was allocated to Fortis hospital Mumbai.

Dr. Anvay Mulay, Chief Cardiac Surgeon of Fortis Hospital Mumbai and his team came to Surat to procure heart, while

Ahmedabad's Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center (KDRC) Dr. Jamal Rizvi and his team came to Surat to procure two kidneys and liver.

Jagdish Patel's heart was transplanted into Rajan Desai age 52 at Fortis hospital Mumbai, an employee of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. working in Mumbai.

Heart Transplant is a race against time & this was the first instance in Gujarat where green corridor was carried out by Surat city police to transport the Heart to Mumbai by Air.

Kidneys and Liver transplantation was done at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center(IKDRC) Ahmedabad in three organ failure patient.

This was first ever heart donation of Gujarat from Surat and first ever interstate heart donation from Gujarat.

On May 03, 2016, 58 year old Dhansukhbhai was returning home on his bike after exercising in the gym, when an unknown bike rider hit him near the canal in Dungri village. Dhansukhbhai fell off the bike and fell unconscious with serious head injuries. Were he was admitted to Sardar Memorial Hospital in Bardoli.

There during C.T. scan brain haemorrhage was diagnosed. He was then admitted to Asutosh Multi Specialty Hospital, Surat for further treatment. Where neurosurgeon Dr. Ashit Desai performed a craniotomy to remove a blood clot from his brain.

On May 5, 2016, team of doctors declared Dhansukhbhai brain death. Medical Administrator of Asutosh Multi Specialty Hospital Dr. Ketan Desai contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, founder of Donate Life, over phone and gave information about Dhansukhbhai's brain death.

Mandlewala reached the hospital and explained the importance of organ donation to Dhansukhbhai family members. They gave consent for donation of kidney & liver Further, Nilesh Mandlewala persuaded them to donate bones, saying that if they donate bones too, these bones will help cancer patients and other bone patients. Then the family members said that you should go ahead to donate any body parts that can be donated for people to get quality life.

Ahmedabad's Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center (IKDRC) Dr. Pranjal Modi and his team procured kidneys and a liver. Dr. Rajeev Raj Chowdhury and his team from Asutosh Multi Specialty Hospital Surat procured bones.

Kidneys and Liver transplantation was done at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Center (IKDRC) Ahmedabad in three organ failure patient.

This was first ever bones Donation in Gujarat from Surat.

Navnit Babubhai Chaudhary, Age 30, a diamond polisher from Laveta village in Surat's Mangroltaluka, met with an accident on May 29, 2017 while returning home from Vankal to Laveta. The motorcycle, on which he was driving skidded off the road at Vankal railway crossing, causing serious head and body injuries. Due to his serious injuries, he was immediately rushed to Surat's PP Savani Heart Institute and Multi-specialty hospital. After CT scan, doctors diagnosed the blood clot in the brain. He was operated to remove the blood clot and shifted to Surat New Civil Hospital under supervision of HOD Dr. Nimesh Varma.

On 1st June, 2017, team of doctors declared him brain dead. Dr. Nilesh Kachhadiya informed Donate Life trustee Hemant Desai about Navneetbhai's brain death. The team of Donate Life reached the hospital and explained the importance & procedure of organ donation to Navneetbhai's family members.

On getting the consent of Navneetbhai's family members, Founder and President of Donate Life Nilesh Mandlewala contacted Dr. Pranjal Modi and Priyaben Shah of Institute of Kidney & Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) Ahmedabad for the donation of kidney and liver whereas Dr. Dhaval Naik of CIMS hospital Ahmedabad for the donation of heart.

Navneetbhai's heart was transplanted into age 23 male, resident of Surat at CIMS hospital Ahmedabad.

Out of two kidneys, one was transplanted into a boy age 14 living in Ahmedabad and another kidney was transplanted into age 31 male living in Surat. The liver was transplanted into age 48 male living in Morbi at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad.

A green corridor was created from the Surat New Civil hospital to Surat airport with the help of the Surat city police and the heart was transported from Surat airport to Ahmedabad in a chartered flight.

This was first ever cadaver organ donor of Gujarat from Government Hospital and also first case from the tribal community.

This was 11th heart donation from Surat through Donate Life. Till date Donate Life has given new lease of life and vision to 458 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

14-month toddler Somnath had suffered serious head injuries when he slipped from a ladder while playing near his house on 2 September, 2017. He hit his head and became unconscious. His parents took him to a local doctor, on whose advice, they rushed him to New Civil Hospital in Surat.

A CT scan revealed a brain haemorrhage and fractured skull. Somnath was declared brain dead by the team of doctors on 4 September, 2017.

The hospital authorities contacted Nilesh Mandlewala Founder of Donate Life who convinced Somnath parents to donate his son's organs. Somnath's father Sunil works in a power loom unit as worker.

Somnath's heart was flown to Mumbai and transplanted in a three-year-old girl from Navi Mumbai. "She had been suffering from a rare heart disease known as dilated cardio-myopathy since April, 2016. Finding a small heart for transplant was very difficult. But thanks to the youngest cadaver donor from Surat, Somnath, her life has been saved," said Dr. Anvay Mulay, chief cardiac surgeon at Fortis Hospital who carried out the heart transplant.

Somnath's kidneys were transplanted in a 15-year-old boy from Deesa in Banaskantha district.He was suffering from kidney failure since he was 5 years old.

14-month toddler Somnath was the youngest heart donor of India.

Vrajesh Shah Age. 42, a businessman and resident of Palanpur canal road, suffered severe headache on 12th May, 2019 and was admitted to Unique Hospital. A brain scan revealed that there were blood clots in his brain. On 15th May, 2019 he was declared brain-dead by team of doctors.

Nilesh Mandlewala founder of Donate life was contacted by Dr. Samir Gami and informed him about Vrajesh Shah's Brain Death to which he responded immediately and counselled and convinced his family members and explained them the importance of cadaver organ donation. The family agreed to donate the Lungs along with Heart, kidney and Liver. But there was no Lungs transplant program in Gujarat so lungs was allocated to BGS Global hospital Bengaluru by National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO).

His heart was then allocated to Fortis Hospital, Mumbai. His Lungs were allocated to BGS Global hospital Bengaluru, His Kidney and Liver were allocated to IKDRC Ahmedabad and Corneas donation was received by Lok Drashti Chakshu Bank, Surat.

His supreme sacrifice gave new lease of life and vision to 7 people.

This was first ever lungs donation of Gujarat from Surat and first ever interstate lungs donation from Gujarat

A two-and-a-half year-old toddler Jash Sanjeev Oza fell from the second floor balcony of his neigbour's house in Shanti Palace of Bhatar area in Surat on December 9, 2020.

The family admitted him to Amrita Hospital in Bhatar, Surat and started treatment. Later, CT scan and MRI revealed brain haemorrhage and swelling in the brain.

On learning about the incident. Donate Life founder Nilesh Mandlewala went to hospital on December 14, 2020 and got in touch with Jash's father Sanjeev Oza, who was a journalist with a local newspaper.

The same day team of doctors declared him brain-dead. The family was shattered after doctors told them that their little one was brain dead. Incidentally, Sanjeev Oza had already written news reports about organ donation, but he had not thought that he would one day have to take a decision to donate his toddler organs. He and his wife was counselled by Nilesh Mandlewala. His wife was hopeful of recovery. But Mandlewala explained to her that he was brain dead and his vital organs won't be useful if they wait for too long. She was also convinced and decided to donate the organs of his child to give life to other children like him. They told that "My son's organ donation will keep my son alive in other chidren,"

In absence of a matching domestic paediatric recipient, Jash's heart and lungs were transplanted into two four-year-old child from Russia and Ukraine respectively, who were undergoing treatment in MGM hospital in Chennai. One of the kidneys was transplanted into a 13-year-old girl from Surendranagarand the other into a 17-year-old girl from Surat. The liver was transplanted into a 2-year-old child from Bhavnagar at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Ahmedabad. Whilecorneas were donated to Lok Drashti Eye Bank in Surat.

A two-and-a-half year-old toddler Jash Sanjeev Oza became the youngest multiple organ donor of India.

On August 24, 2021, Meet Pandya (Age-18) and Krish Gandhi (Age-18) best friend class 12 student were riding a bike when a car hit them from behind near GD Goenka School throwing them off the bike. They were taken to the Maitreya Multi Superspeciality Hospital where they were diagnosed brain haemorrhage and panel of doctors declared them brain dead on August 28, 2021.

After a family friend informed Nilesh Mandlewala founder of Donate Life NGO of this tragedy, Donate Life team reached the hospital and met their grieving family members and counseled them for the importance of organ donation.

Even in this time of immense tragedy, parents of both boys agreed to donate their vital organs for the sake of needy patients,

After the consent of both boys parents, SOTTO Gujarat and NOTTO were contacted by Donate Life. SOTTO Gujarat and NOTTO allocated four kidneys, two liver, one heart, two lungs and four corneas to hospitals of Ahmedabad and Hyderabad.

Meet's heart was transplanted into a 21 year-old female from Vadodara at CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad, Krish's lungs were transplanted into a 54-year-old CRPF personnel at KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad.

Meet's liver was transplanted into a 47 year-old Bayad resident at Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad, while Krish's liver was transplanted into a 55 year-old Rajkot resident at Shalby Hospital in Ahmedabad.

Meet's and Krish's four kidneys was transplanted into four kidney failure patients at IKDRC Ahmedabad. All four corneas were donated to Lok Dristi Eye Bank, Surat.

This was 35th heart and 9th incident of lungs donation from Surat through Donate Life also first time in Gujarat 13th organs and tissues were donated in a single day from one hospital.

14 years old Dharmik Kakadiya, a student of class 10 and a resident of Katargam in Surat, was admitted to Kiran Hospital on October 27, 2021, after he started vomiting and hisblood pressure rose. He was under the care of neurophysician Dr. Hina Faldu. A CT scanrevealed blood clotting in the brain because of brain haemorrhage. The blood clotting was removed by neurosurgeon Dr. Bhaumik Thakor.

Unfortunately, Dharmik was declared brain-dead on October 29 by Dr. Faldu and a team of other doctors. The team of Donate Life counseled Dharmik's father Ajaybhai and mother Lalitaben and explained to them the importance of organ donation and how the donate dorgans could give a new life to many other persons. The family agreed to donate the Hands along with Heart, Lungs and Liver. But there was no Hands transplant program in Gujarat so Hands was allocated to Global hospital Mumbai by Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (ROTTO).

Dharmik's lungs were allocated by NOTTO to MGM hospital in Chennai. Liver was allocated to Zydus hospital and the heart to CIMS Hospital in Ahmedabad by SOTTO, His The eyes were donated to Lok Drashtri Eye Bank.

Dharmik's hands were transplanted into a 32-year-old male from Pune. The recipient had lost his hands and legs after suffering an electrical shock three years ago in the year 2018.

14 year old Dharmik was the youngest hands donor of India.

The health of Riya Mistry (9), a class IV student in Valsad, deteriorated on Sep 13, after which she was admitted to a hospital. She was initially vomiting, and on Sep 14, she started having acute headache while in hospital. Following the diagnosis of brain haemorrhage, she was shifted to Kiran Hospital on Sep 15, where she was declared brain dead the next day.

Dr. Mehul Panchal Medical Director of Kiran Hospital contacted Nilesh Mandlewala founder of Donate Life and informed about Riya's brain dead.

Under the guidance of Nilesh Mandlewala, Donate Life team alongwith Riya's foster mother, Dr. Usha Meisheri, a gynaecologist, counseled and convinced Riya's parents Bobby and Trushna for Organ donation.

Police created five green corridors for quick transport of the organs.

Riya's two kidneys, liver, a hand, lungs, and corneas were harvested. Her one kidney was transplanted into a 13-year-old patient in the same hospital, and another kidney and liver were sent to Ahmedabad. The lungs were transplanted in a 13-year-old girl in Hyderabad. The hand was transplanted to a 15-year-old girl, a class XI student of Mumbai. The receiver had suffered an electrocution and lost one hand.

As per the current information available on the Internet, Al and medical literature, Late Riya Bobby Mistry, a 9-year-old girl from (Valsad, Gujarat) India has become the youngest hand donor in the world.

During the challenging times of covid 19 pandemic donate life continue towork tirelessly. Western India's first heart donation from Surat was doneduring covid 19.

A 22 year old Maharsh Patel, a farmer from Saroli village in Choriyasi taluka of Surat district, had met with an accident while returning home from his farm on July 3, 2020.

Maharsh's car collided with a truck parked on the roadside. Due to the collision, Maharsh sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Sardar Smrak hospital in Bardoli.

The doctors at the Bardoli hospital referred him to the INS Hospital in Surat. His CT scan reports showed heavy swelling in the brain and blood clotting.

On July 9, 2020 the doctors of INS hospital declared Maharsh brain dead and contacted Nilesh Mandlewala and inform him about Maharsh's brain death.

Donate Life's team rushed to the hospital and convinced Maharsh's family members for donating his organs to give new lease of life to other people who are in dire need of transplant.

Maharsh's heart was transplanted at CIMS hospital Ahmedabad into a 35-year-old woman who has been suffering from heart ailment from the past 10 years. This was the first heart transplant in western India after lockdown of Covid-19.

Both kidney were transplanted into two kidney failure patients and liver was transplanted into Dilip Deshmukh (Dada) a Social worker at Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) in Ahmedabad.

A green corridor was created from the INS hospital to Surat airport with the help of the Surat city police and the heart was transported from Surat to Ahmedabad in a chartered flight.

This was 27th heart donation from Surat through Donate Life. Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 814 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 749 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

Organ donation from Surat have not only saved lives in India, but also citizenof UAE, Ukraine, Russia, Sudan, Yemen and Bangladesh through successfultransplant in Mumbai and Chennai.

On 2nd March, 2017, Parimal Bhagat age 34 a distributer of namkin complained of severe headache in the wee hours. Parimal's wife applied an ointment to ease his pain. At 7:00 am his wife left for her job as a Teacher at Nagar Prathamik School. Parimal did not wake up till 9:00 am. His parents tried to wake him up, but he did not respond. Parimal was immediately admitted to BAPS Pramukh Swami Hospital. The CT scan and other reports suggested he had suffered brain haemorrhage and there was blood clotting in his brain. He was declared brain dead on March 3, 2017 by a team of doctors at BAPS Pramukh Swami Hospital.

Intensivist Dr. Chetan Mehta, contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, founder of Donate Life, and informed him about Parimalbhai's brain death. The Donate Life team reached the hospital and explained the importance of organ donation and the organ donation process to his family.

On getting the consent from his family members, Nilesh Mandlewala contacted transplant coordinator Priyaben Shah at Institute of Kidney & Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC) Ahmedabad for the donation of kidney.

As there was no heart recipient of A+ve blood group in Gujarat. ZTCC Mumbai was contacted. At that time there were no eligible Indian patients in the same blood group who were available at that time in Maharashtra. The ZTCC in Pune and Aurangabad did not have any eligible Indian patient in the same blood group and hence the heart was then offered to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) for the waitlisted patients across the country.

At that time there were no eligible Indian patients in the same blood group who were available across the country then NOTTO decided to go ahead with heart to be transplanted in the 14-year-old girl from UAE who was admitted to Chennai's Fortis Malar Hospital.

Both the kidneys was transplanted at Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Center (IKDRC) Ahmedabad in two kidney failure patients.

A green corridor was created from the BAPS Pramukh Swami Hospital to Surat airport with the help of the Surat city police and the heart was transported from Surat airport to Chennai in a chartered flight.

This was 9th heart donation from Surat through Donate Life.

A 22-year-old Ravi Devani, resident of Surat, who was a marketing executive in HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company, Ahmedabad. On April 6, 2017 Ravi fell from his motorcycle after colliding with a cow near Darnidhar Derasar on his way home to Jivraj Park in Ahmedabad. He fell unconscious because of head injury. He was rushed to VS Hospital and then to HOPE Neurocare Hospital Ahmedabad. He had blood clot in his brain and was operated upon on April 9, 2017 after having been shifted to Surat Unity Hospital. There he was declared brain-dead on April 10, 2017.

Intensivist Dr. Sameer Gami and Dr. Mahesh Sutariya contacted founder of Donate life Nilesh Mandlewala and inform him about Ravi's brain death. Team Donate Life rushed to hospital and counselled the family of Ravi Devani.

As there was no heart recipient of A+ve blood group in Gujarat, ZTCC Mumbai was contacted. At that time there were no eligible Indian patients in the same blood group who were available at that time in Maharashtra. The ZTCC in Pune and Aurangabad did not have any eligible Indian patient in the same blood group and hence the heart was then offered to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) for the waitlisted patients across the country.

It was only got a written assurance from NOTTO that no eligible recipient was immediately available than ZTCC Mumbai decided to go ahead with heart to be transplanted in the 27-year-old Ukrainian girl Nataliya Omelchuk who was admitted to Fortis hospital in Mumbai. This was a first case of a foreign national getting a heart transplant in Maharashtra.

Ravi's Liver was transplanted into 31 year male of Surat. His one kidney and pancreas were transplanted into 36 year male of Vadodara, another kidney was transplanted into 18 year youth of Bhilwara, Rajasthan at Institute of Kidney Disease and Research Center (IKDRC) Ahmedabad. Twocorneas were donated to Lok Dristi Eye Bank, Surat.

Green Corridor was created by Surat city police from Unity hospital Surat to Surat airport for the smooth transport of the heart.

15 years old girl Khushi Dudhrejia met with an accident on 21st December 2019 while returning home from tuition. She was admitted at Ayush ICU and Multi-speciality hospital under the treatment of neurosurgeon Dr. Hasmukh Sojitra.

Despite best medical treatment and efforts, she was declared brain death on 26th December 2019 by neurosurgeon Dr. Hasmukh Sojitra, Physician Dr. Ghanshyam Patel, Dr. Manoj Gajera and Dr. Jitu Navadiya.

Trustee of Sanskar Bharti School Jagdish Italiya contacted founder of Donate Life Nilesh Mandlewala and informed about her brain death. Nilesh Mandlewala and his team rushed to the hospital, along with Jagdish Italiya counseled the family members of Khushi about the importance of Organ donation and its process.

On consent from the family, Nilesh Mandlewala contacted SOTTO. SOTTO allocated Liver and both Kidneys to IKDRC Ahmedabad. As there was no heart recipient of B+ve blood group in SOTTO Gujarat, ROTTO Mumbai was contacted. At that time there were no eligible Indian patients in the same blood group who were available in ROTTO Mumbai hence the heart was offered to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) for the waitlisted patients across the country.

At that time there were no eligible Indian patients in the same blood group who were available across the country then NOTTO decided to go ahead with heart to be transplanted in the 24-year-old girl from Yemen who was admitted to Mumbai's Global Hospital.

Liver was transplanted to a 17 year old boy and both kidneys were transplanted to children of 4 years and 10 years respectively at IKDRC Ahmedabad. Her Corneas were donated to Lok Drashti Eye Bank, Surat.

A green corridor was created from the Ayush ICU & Multi-speciality Hospital to Surat airport with the help of the Surat city police and the heart was transported from Surat airport to Mumbai in a chartered flight.

This was 25th heart donation from Surat through Donate Life. Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 789 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 725 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

He was immediately rushed to the nearby sunshine global hospital, where after receiving primary treatment he was shifted to mahavir trauma hospital under the treatment of neurosurgeon Dr. Dhaval Patel. On investigating his ct scan reports, it was found that he had blood clots in his brain along with swelling.

After receiving treatment for a few days, neurosurgeon Dr. Dhaval Patel, intensivist Dr. Alok shah, medical director Dr. Kishor Vaidhya and Physician Dr. Manek asawa, declared him brain death on 2nd November, 2019.

Dr. Dhaval Patel called & briefed donate life founder & president Nilesh Mandlewala about his brain death, to which he and his team rushed to the hospital. They explained his family members the importance of organ donation.

On consent from the family, Nilesh Mandlewala contacted SOTTO convener Dr. Pranjal Modi. Sotto allocated liver and two kidneys to IKDRC, Ahmedabad. ROTTO allocated heart to fortis hospital, Mumbai.

Liver and two kidneys were transplanted in 3 needy organ failure patients at IKDRC Ahmedabad, heart was transplanted in female age 40 years at fortis hospital, Mumbai.

An unknown person rushed him to the nearest hospital, where he was given primary treatment. Later his family members shifted him to Smt. Jayaben Modi Hospital in Ankleshwar under the guidance of neurosurgeon Dr. Jaypalsinh Gohil. On investigations it was found out that he had suffered brain hemorrhage.

On June 24, 2021, neurosurgeon Dr. Jaypalsinh Gohil, Intensivist Dr. Kalpesh Kalsariya, Ophthalmologist Dr. Anjana Chauhan, Medical Officer Dr. Sameera Shaikh declared him brain dead.

Dr. Jaypalsinh Gohil and Intensivist Dr. Kalpesh Kalsariya, informed Founder of Donate Life Nilesh Mandlewala about his brain death and family expressed willingness to donate organs. Donate Life team rushed to the hospital and under the guidance of Nilesh Mandlewala they counseled his family & made them understand the importance of Organ Donation.

With their consent, Nilesh Mandlewala contacted convener of SOTTO Dr. Pranjal Modi and informed him about the donation of Kidney and Liver.

SOTTO allocated Liver to Sterling Hospital in Ahmedabad while his Kidney's were allocated to IKDRC, Ahmedabad.

Liver was transplanted to a needy patient in Sterling Hospital, Ahmedabad while both the Kidney's were transplanted in Hospitals of Ahmedabad.

This was first organ donation from Ankleshwar.

Piyush Patel, a 38-year-old resident of Bharuch, suffered from persistent headaches, which worsened on October 26, 2022. After being rushed to Jhulelal Hospital and later shifted to Apex Multispecialty Hospital Bharuch under Dr. Ketan Doshi's care, he was diagnosed with brain hemorrhage. On October 30, 2022, Neurosurgeon Dr. Jaypalsinh Gohil, Physician Dr. Ketan Doshi, Intentcivist Dr. Irfan Patel and General Surgeon Dr. Mehul Gamit declared him brain dead.

The Donate Life team, led by Founder Nilesh Mandlewala, was informed and promptly counselled Piyush's family about the importance of organ donation. With their consent, Donate Life facilitated the donation process through SOTTO Gujarat.

Liver was transplanted to a male age 40 years at Kiran Hospital, Surat. Both kidneys were transplanted at Ahmedabad in two kidney failure patients. Corneas was donated to JC Nahar Eye Bank at Smt. Jayaben Modi Hospital Ankleshwar.

A green corridor was created from Apex Multispeciality & Trauma Centre Bharuch to Kiran Hospita Surat with the help of Bharuch City Police, Surat Rural Police and Surat City Police for smooth transportation of liver. This marked the first organ donation from Bharuch through Donate Life.

Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 1048 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 961 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

On November 20, 2023, Yogesh Vasava, a 32-year-old truck driver from Ankleshwar. suffered fatal injuries in an accident. He was immediately rushed to the nearby Smt.Jayaben Modi Multispeciality Hospital, Ankleshwar. After multiple reports & CT scan, it was found that he had suffered brain hemorrhage. Despite medical efforts, he was declared brain dead on November 23, 2023, by a team of doctors at Smt. Jayaben Modi Multispeciality Hospital.

Dr. Aatmi Deliwala contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, Founder and President of Donate Life, who rushed to the hospital with his team. After counseling Yogesh's family about organ donation, they consented to donate his organs.

Through SOTTO Gujarat and ROTTO Mumbai, Yogesh's organs were allocated to various hospitals of Gujarat and Mumbai.

Yogesh Heart was transplanted into 49-year-old male at CIMS Hospital Ahmedabad, Lungs was transplanted into 40-year-old female at Sir H.N. Reliance Hospital Mumbai, Liver was transplanted into 31-year-old male at CIMS Hospital Ahmedabad. one kidney was transplanted into 36-year-old female at CIMS Hospital Ahmedabad and another kidney was transplanted into 39-year-old female at Kiran Hospital Surat. Corneas were donated to JC Nahar Eye Bank at Smt. Jayaben Modi Hospital Ankleshwar.

Two green corridor was created from the Smt. Jayaben Modi Hospital Ankleshwar to Surat airport with the help of Bharuch City Police, Surat Rural Police and Surat City Police and the heart and lungs was transported from Surat airport to Ahmedabad and Mumbai in a chartered flight.

This was first ever heart donation from Ankleshwar and 50th heart donation, 22nd incident of lungs donation through Donate Life. Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 1193 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 1095 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

Aanya Dagaya - age 12-year-old, class 8 student, had fallen from stairs on Jun 22, 2024 resulting in severe brain injury. She was rushed immediately at the INS plus hospital of Navsari, where under the treatment of neurosurgeon Dr. Ashok Patel. In CT scan reports she was diagnosed with Brain hemorrhage.

On July 1, 2024, Dr. Hemal Chheda, Nephrologist Dr. Harsh Shah, Physician Dr. Vivek Shah, Intensivist Dr. Yash Parekh declared her brain dead.

Aanya's heart was transplanted into a 29-year-old woman from Ujjain at U. N. Mehta hospital Ahmedabad. Her kidneys, liver and pancreas were successfully transplanted to patients in need at IKDRC, Ahmedabad. Corneas were donated to Rotary Eye Institute, Navsari.

A green corridor was created from the INS plus hospital, Navsari to Surat airport with the help of Navsari City Police, Navsari Rural Police and Surat City Police and the heart was transported from Surat airport to Ahmedabad in a chartered flight.

This marked the first heart donation from Navsari and the 52nd heart donation facilitated by Donate Life. Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 1242 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 1142 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

Anand District Witnesses Selfless Act of Organ Donation through Donate Life.

On the vibrant day of Dhuleti, the festival of colors, a remarkable act of organ donation unfolded at IRIS Hospital in Anand through Donate Life. Hardik Navinchandra Shelat, a 40-year-old, etched a lasting impact by giving a new lease of life to five individuals through the donation of his kidneys, liver, and corneas.

Hardik lived with his family at Yatkrupa Residency in Anand and ran a provision store near Navjivan Orthopedic Hospital. On March 10, 2025 after returning from his morning walk and having breakfast, he went to take a bath. When he did not come out for over 30 minutes, his pregnant wife, Neema, grew concerned and forced the door open, only to find him unconscious. The family immediately rushed him to Irish Hospital via 108 ambulance, where physician Dr. Parth Shah initiated treatment. ACT scan revealed a brain hemorrhage.

Despite intensive medical intervention, Hardik's condition worsened. On March 13, 2025 a team of doctors, including neurosurgeon Dr. Sachin Patel, neurophysician Dr. Himanshu Patel, intensivist Dr. Nitant Trivedi, and medical director Dr. Mehul Patel, declared him brain dead. Intensivist Dr. Nitant Trivedi immediately contacted Nilesh Mandlewala, the founder of Donate Life, informing him of Hardik's status.

The Donate Life Anand team member, Nikhil Shastri and Nishil Patel, reached the hospital and explained the importance of organ donation to Hardik's father Navinchandra, mother Dakshaben. and other family members. However, legal consent from Hardik's wife Neema was required. Neema had given birth to a daughter just a day earlier, on March 12, 2025 at Akanksha Hospital. Nilesh Mandlewala, accompanied by Hardik's parents, approached her with the heartbreaking news and the possibility of organ donation.

Overwhelmed by grief yet guided by compassion, Neema and Hardik's parents made a selfless decision. "What was destined has happened. If his organs can give new life to others, it is a divine act," they said, consenting to donate all viable organs.

On consent from the family, SOTTO Gujarat was contacted, where SOTTO allocated Heart to U N Mehta Hospital, Lungs to KD Hospital, Liver to Zydus Hospital Ahmedabad. One Kidney was allocated to Apollo Hospitaland another kidney was allocated to Zydus Hospital. Baroda

Due to medical reasons heart and lungs could not procured by the team of U.N Mehta Hospital and K.D. Hospital. Liver was transplanted into female age 47 of Ahmedabad at Apollo Hospital Ahmedabad. One kidney transplanted into female age 31 of Ahmedabad at Zydus Hospital, another Kidney was transplanted into female age 49 years old at Zydus Hospital. Baroda. His Corneas were donated to Anand's Sankara Eye Hospital.

Green Corridor was created from IRIS Hospital Anand to Apollo Hospital Ahmedabad with the help of Anand city police and various City and Rural Police of Gujarat for smooth transportation of vital organs.

Till date Donate Life has facilitated Donation of 1306 Organs and tissues. Giving a new lease of life and vision to 1202 organ failure patients across India and Globe.

In a heart-warming gesture, the educational responsibility of Hardik's new born daughter was taken up by Bhikhubhai Patel, President of Charotar Vidhya Mandal and Manishbhai Patel, Vice President.
