SURAT BASED NGO DONATE LIFE WAS HONOURED FOR ITS OUTSTANDING ACTIVITIES AT A NATIONAL LEVEL

A special honour  was given to a Surat based NGO Donate Life  considering the outstanding work carried out by them for Cadaver Organ Donation, at the national level program for celebrating the 7th Indian Organ Donation Day by NOTTO (National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization). It’s a matter of pride for Donate Life to have been commended in the august presence of dignitaries – Dr. N. S. Dharmastu, Special Director General Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, Shri K. L. Sharma, Joint Secretary, Health & Family Welfare, Government of India and Dr. Vijay Bhandari, Director, NOTTO.

Donate Life was felicitated by NOTTO at New Delhi

Here it should be noted that the Donate Life President, Shri Nilesh Mandlewala together with the team of Donate Life have successfully regenerated 400 lives by receiving the donation of 175 Kidneys, 63 livers,3 pancreas, 7 hearts and 152 eyes and transplanting these organs to organ failure patients, thereby giving them new life. Moreover, more than 7000 citizens of Surat took part in the “Donate Life Surat Walkathon’16”, which was organized to raise awareness for Organ Donation on the occassion of 7th Inidan Organ Donation Day on 27 November 2016.

The “1st Joint Conclave” of NGOs working for Organ Donation was held by Organ India and NOTTO on 30th November, 2016 at India International Centre, New Delhi. The conclave witnessed active participation of various institutions & organizations working for Organ Donation in India. President of Donate Life Shri Nilesh Mandlewala gave a detailed overview of the activities carried out by Donate Life for Organ Donation in the State. All National NGOs working for Organ Donation appreciated the activities & initiatives taken by Donate Life.

Talking about the noticeable activities of Donate Life, Director of NOTTO, Dr. Vimal Bhandari urged that keeping in mind the large scale activities of Donate Life, there is an urgent need to set up SOTTO (State Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization) in Gujarat by consulting competent authority in the state.
