MORE THAN 2500 CITIZENS TOOK PLEDGE FOR DONATING ORGANS IN WALKATHON 2018

“Donate Life Walkathon” – walk for Organ Donation was organized by Donate Life, an organization working in public awareness on Organ Donation in Surat as a pre-event of the Night

Marathon to be held in February. President of Donate Life Nilesh Mandalwala said that more than 5 lakh people die in the country due to non-availability of organs. Last year in Gujarat,

180 organ transplants were done out of which 91 organ donation was made from Surat. Surat, known as Textile and Diamond City, is now known as Organ Donor City in the country.

the capital of the organ donation of Gujarat”, 20 lakh people in the country suffer from kidney disease. Each year, 2 lakh new patients are added. The same condition is also associated

with heart, liver and pancreases related diseases. The main purpose of organizing this Walkathon is to get information about organ donation, remove the misconceptions about organ

donation, spread the awareness among people that one brain-dead patient can save up to 9 lives through organ donation, people vow for organ donation and save the lives of needy

patients by donating the kidney, liver and heart of brain-dead patient.

Smt. Ashmitaben Shiroya, mayor of Surat city said that today’s program is inspirational as the donation of organs to organ failure gives new life. When a person’s heart, kidney or liver

fails, he understands the importance of organ donation. Donating the organs of brain-dead person is the greatest virtue and getting the blessings of organ receiver is the truest

blessings. Surat city is the number one in the whole Gujarat and in the country. We should help organ failure patient to get a new life and also they recognized and congratulated the

activity of Donate Life.

Kalpesh Katrodia, who have received the heart of Navneet Babubhai Chaudhary from Surat said, before getting a heart, my heart capacity was 10 to 15 percent because of that I had

faced many difficulties in living a normal life. After getting the heart I got a new life and appeal that whenever any person in the family becomes brain-dead, come forward to donate

their organs to the organ failure patient like me and save the life of that patient.

Dr. Vinod Shah, President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce Shri P.M. Shah, Vice President Shri Hetal Mehta, Shri Pintu Dhameliya from Dhameliya Brothers and President of

Lokdrashti Chakshubank Dr. Prafulbhai Shiroya.

More than 2500 citizens, including former Vice-Chancellor of Veer Narmad South Gujarat University Dr. B.A. Parikh, Shri Jashmat Vidiya from CREDAI, Shri Suresh Patel, District

Director of Lions Shri Sanjeev Gandhi, President of Nursing Association Mr. Iqbal Kadiwala participated enthusiastically in the Walkathon and vowed for organ donation.

To make this program successful we received a great support from various institutions such as the Indian Medical Association, Surat Medical Consultant Association, Surat Physician Association, Surat Family Physician

Association, Surat Nursing Association, Dhameliya Brothers, Yogi Divine Institute and various social and educational institutions of Surat and many

other associations and hospitals.
