APURVA DESAI FROM SURAT, GUJARAT MADE 2017 BLESSED FOR FEW FAMILIES AFTER HE WAS DECLARED BRAIN DEAD

On 29th December, Apurvabhai suffered with paralysis attack at 7.30 in the morning and immediately was admitted to Mahavir Trauma Hospital under the supervision of Neurophysician Dr.Aniruddh Apte. After CT Scan, Doctor found blood clot in brain and declared with brain hemorrhage.

Later he was operated by Neurosurgeon Dr.K.C.Jain but he was not able to survive and on 30th December 2016, he was declared brain dead by Neurophysician Dr. Aniruddh Apte, Neurosurgeon Dr.K.C.Jain and Intentsivist Dr. Alok Shah.

Dr.Anirudhh Apte then called Donate Life President Mr. Nilesh Mandlewala to inform him about Apurva Desai’s case. Team Donate Life rushed to the hospital to start with the counseling session with Apurvabhai’s family members. Family members consciously decided to donate the organs so as to give new lives to many. Hence, the President of Donate Life, Shri Nilesh Mandlewala, called coordinator Priyaben Shah and Dr.Pranjal Modi from Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad and requested them to accept the donation of 2 kidneys and liver. Dr.Pranjal Modi and his team rushed from IKDRC and accepted donation of two kidneys and liver whereas Dr.Meenaben Ghadiya from Arpan Public Charitable Trust accepted donation of two eyes.

One kidney was transplanted into Jay Limbani (age 16) living in Ahmedabad and another kidney was transplanted into Pradip Shekhawat (age 14) living in Ahmedabad too. Liver was transplanted into Minesh Patel (age 41) living in Mahemdabad. The transplant of kidneys and liver were completed at IKDRC by Dr.Pranjal Modi, Dr.Jamal Rizvi and their team.

Lt. Apurvabhai is our hero and his family members are our heroes as well as they all agreed for cadaver organ donation. We salute Lt.Apurvabhai and his family members. We are thankful to Hospitals, doctors and all the staff members of the hospitals for spreading awareness of cadaver organ donation and helping us saving more lives.

From Surat and rest of South Gujarat region, till date, Shri Nilesh Mandlewala and Donate Life has received donation of 182 kidneys, 67 livers, 4 pancreases, 7 hearts, and 158 eyes which helped 417 people to get a new life.
