A tribal family set an example in Surat by donating the organs, including heart, of 30 years old Navneet who died in a road accident. The donated organs saved as many as 4 lives.

 

 

 

Navneet Chaudhary met with an accident 29th May 2017 while he was returning to his home from Vankal to Lavet in the evening. He was transferred to P.P.Savani Hospital at Surat. He had a blood clot in brain and thus was shifted to New Civil Hospital

 

Though doctors tried their best to save his life, on 1st June, the team of doctors declared him brain dead. Team Donate Life explained the importance & procedure of Organ Donation to Navneet’s family members which they agreed upon to donate his organs. Team of doctors from Institute of Kidney & Diseases and Research Centre (IKDRC), Ahmedabad and CIMS hospital, Ahmedabad came to collect the organs. Doctors from IKDRC accepted donation of 2 kidneys and liver whereas donation of heart was accepted by doctors from CIMS.

The heart collected from Surat Civil Hospital was reached to CIMS, Ahmedabad after passing 277 KM in 80 minutes and transplanted into Kalpesh Jaysukhbhai Katrodia, age 23, a resident of Surat by Dr.Dhaval Naik and his team.

Out of two donated kidneys, one was transplanted into Tilak Shah, age 14 living in Ahmedabad and another kidney was transplanted into Punit Jalan, age 31 living in Surat. The liver was transplanted into Valabhai Rathod, age 48 living in Morbi. The transplantation of both Kidney and liver was done at IKDRC, Ahmedabad.

So far the team of Donate Life has given new life and vision to 458 persons across the Country and the World by playing an instrumental role in the donation of 196 kidneys, 74 livers, 5 pancreas, 11 hearts and 174 eyes through counselling the family members of organ dead persons.

Team Donate Life : President of Donate Life Nilesh Mandlewala, Secretary of Donate Life Rakesh Jain, Trustee Hemant Desai, CEO of Donate Life Nirav Mandlewala, Nimit Patel, Denish Satasiya, Devesh Bharucha, Mahendrasinh Darbar, Asfaque Shaikh, Mayur Pamak, Bhavin Koladiya, Program Officer, Subhash Jodhani, Dhaval Prajapati, Yogesh Prajapati and Jitendra More.

Surat police commissioner also supported in this organ donation by declaring the route as a ‘Green Corridor’. Even if the Surat Airport doesn’t have the facility for the night take-off and landing, the Director of Surat Airport Authority also supported by giving a permission of landing and take-off.

It is to be noted that from last 12 years, various private hospitals and trust’s hospitals have been proactively helped in organ donations. For the first time organ donation has been done from Civil Hospital.

Navneet’s family members understood how important it is to save lives of other by donating the organs. We all can save many lives in the future by registering as an organ donor. Let’s we all take the pledge to save lives of others.
